Mechanical Engineer – Energy
Albany, NY

Local Talent Preferred! Cogen Power Technologies is seeking a full-time mechanical engineer to join our team.  This position ideally will be based in the Albany, NY area but will require travel throughout the Northeast to our project sites.

We are looking for a self-starter to perform the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Managing the successful installation, testing, and operation of cogeneration plants and or critical facility infrastructure projects
  • Oversee the work of mechanical and other subcontractors
  • Support procurement efforts to define bidding requirements, issuing requests for proposals, and evaluation proposes from electrical subcontractors, electrical equipment suppliers, and controls suppliers.
  • Interpret AutoCAD drawings and specifications
  • Participate in design reviews
  • Provide technical guidance to project team members
  • Perform technical troubleshooting of various mechanical issues
  • Develop and implement corrective action plans
  • Work independently under minimal supervision

The preferred applicant would have more than 5 years of experience (including advanced coursework and co-op) in power engineering, installing, troubleshooting and/or operating turbines or reciprocating engines, or chiller or steam plants.

A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Maritime, or an equivalent combination of higher education, technical experience, and/or Navy or Coast Guard background is required.

Boiler Plant Operator – Full-Time and Per-Diem
Worcester, MA

Cogen Power Technologies is an established power generation Design-Build and consulting firm specializing in developing and delivering cogeneration and central (boiler, chiller, steam) plants and providing turn-key critical infrastructure solutions for major hospitals, universities, government, and other institutions in the Northeast. We are seeking full-time Plant Operators to join our team. These positions will be based in Worcester, MA.

We are looking for self-starters to perform the following duties and responsibilities:

    • Provide operation, monitoring, and maintenance of high pressure, oil and gas-fired steam boilers

    • Perform daily equipment checks and readings; can monitor equipment performance and metrics; and completes plant operational logs

    • Can perform minor repairs and troubleshooting and maintain plant systems and equipment as necessary

    • Makes safety a priority and maintains a safe work environment.

    • Has excellent verbal and written communication and can provide progress updates and report issues to plant management

    • Has the ability to work independently with minimal supervision

The preferred applicant would have experience in operating boiler plants, central utility plants, cogeneration plants, or similar facilities with facility critical infrastructure and/or power producing equipment (boilers, turbines, compressed air, and steam, hot and chill water distribution systems).
